In 2019, the USF CERT brought in a fellow CERT member from Hillsborough County, Bob Donaghy, to the University of South Florida to offer a series of Basic life support (BLS) courses designed to help our students, faculty and staff receive their certification. The American Heart Association BLS CPR/AED training reinforces healthcare professionals’ and lay responders with the understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing CPR, choking relief, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.
Seven training classes were held with 86 USF students, faculty, and staff certified in Adult/Pediatric/Infant BLS CPR/AED. That means there are 86 more people who are now trained to help save a life!
A big “THANK YOU” to Bob Donaghy for teaching these classes for us! And...great job to everyone who attended and took the time to get certified. One student even saved our mascot, Sir Loin.
Keep a lookout for more training opportunities and events that we have coming up in 2020-2021 academic year! Both USF and Hillsborough County residents are welcome to join the training sessions.
